During your stay at Sunny Hill you can spend your time at Sunny Hill itself, in Kuldiga and its immediate environs, and further afield in the Kurzeme (southwest Latvia) area.

At Sunny Hill you can relax in the gardens, take walks in the adjoining forest, or fish in the lake. 

A short and inexpensive taxi ride takes you to Kuldiga, a picturesque town located on the Venta River, where you can easily spend several days quartering the cobblestoned streets of the town, visiting buildings of historical interest, and shopping for local handcrafts. A visit to the local museum is also worthwhile. Other activities include water sports on the Venta River and horseback riding at a local stable. 

Particularly memorable is the view of the picturesque brick bridge over the Venta River, which dates back to 1874. Other sites of interest in Kuldiga include the Holy Trinity Catholic church and St. Catherine's Lutheran church. 

Also notable is the famous Kuldigas Rumba waterfall, whose 360 ft (110 m) length completely spans the river.  

Sunny Hill's central location near Kuldiga provides a convenient base for exploring other towns and castles in the Kurzeme area. Within relatively short driving distance are the port cities of Liepaja and Ventspils, both of which are worth a visit. En route to and from these places you can also touch base at many other towns and sites of interest on the way.
